Mayan Rites
Some say that over time memory sifts through feelings and shapes, looking back and forward, shinning light where warmth and laughter dwell deep in the heart. A survival tool some say, to remmber images that nourish body and spirit..
This work of many years looks into a bedroom bathed in light, filled with images past and future, too many images for a snapshot or a single year. Many are female, variations of soft lines, shapes of breasts. Sharper symbols cut through without disrupting something basic, fundamental. As if memory shines light on its own picture of what was and is and is to be.
It takes a wrm heart to remember this way, flashing light through layers of darkness.
Or may be the artist simply painted light breaking through the middle of this darkly colored abstract work.
It wouldn't be the first time art opened a window for someone else.
Thanks for a beautiful exhibit - You are a treasure!
